About Us
Become a PatientHistorical Beginning
Diamond Headache is a world-renowned treatment center and the very first in its class that was founded in 1974, by a true pioneer, Dr. Seymour Diamond. In 1972, two years before opening Diamond Headache, Dr. Seymour Diamond was able to count on one hand the number of physicians throughout the U.S. who were just focused on doing “headache work.” That drove Dr. Seymour Diamond on a mission to bring awareness across the world that headaches are a legitimate disease.
In his own words, the representation of the Diamond Headache would always follow: “This is a place that’s always been and always will be about providing a continuum of care. Our patients need us to persevere at every stage of the process: to accurately diagnose their condition, to adjust their treatment, to continue our follow-up, and to show them an opportunity for life beyond headache.”

Headache Diagnosis and Management – Rosalind Franklin University
Diamond Headache also collaborates with Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science to offer Medical Students a two week rotation at the Diamond Headache Clinic and AMITA St. Joseph Hospital. Students will work under the direct supervision of physicians specializing in headache as well as working with ancillary staff for methods of assessment of headache via history and physical examination and in the use of alternative medicine techniques, such as biofeedback, for headache management. Students will spend additional time with a clinical pharmacologist to further learn the role of drug therapies in headache management. Satisfactory progression of the student in the program will include demonstration of the ability to assess headache patients and develop treatment plans that will be reviewed and discussed with one of the physicians responsible for the program. The educational program will be conducted primarily at the Diamond Headache Clinic with additional time spent at the Diamond Headache Inpatient Treatment Unit at AMITA St. Joseph Hospital.
