I ask what the expectation is and if it’s a cure, I say right away, we don’t do that. I say that what can happen is a better life with reduced frequency and severity of headache so the patient can get back to doing what he or she wants.”

General Background

Dr. Urban is a native of Presov, former Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States in 1985, first settling in San Francisco and then moving to the Midwest. He joined the staff of the Diamond Headache Clinic in 1990. He is currently on the staff of Presence Saint Joseph Hospital and is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and a Lecturer in the Department of Medicine (Neurology) at Loyola University of Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine.

Education and Training

Dr. Urban received a Doctorate of Medicine from Safarik University Medical School in 1974, and completed a residency and fellowship in Neurology at the Municipal Hospital, Kosice, former Czechoslovakia. He also completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago, Illinois.


Certification of Additional Qualification in Headache Medicine from the National Headache Foundation


Dr. Urban has a strong interest in the treatment of headache with BOTOX® injections. He has lectured on various headache subjects throughout his career, and is actively conducting research at the clinic.
