Ramadan, M.D., FAAN, FAHS
 Nabih Manih Ramadan, MD is Senior Associate Staff in the Department of Neurology, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Vista Health Systems, which include Victory and St Therese Hospitals. Dr. Ramadan is the immediate past Vice President for Strategic Development at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and former Chair of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine at Chicago Medical School.
Dr. Ramadan received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut College of Medicine, and completed a Residency in Neurology at the University of Cincinnati and a Fellowship in Cerebrovascular Diseases at Henry Ford Hospital & Health System. Dr. Ramadan is a Fellow of the American College of Angiologists, the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Ramadan is a member of many national and international organizations including the American Academy of Neurology where he chaired of the Science Working Group of the Headache and Facial Pain section, the American Medical Association where he served as official representative of the section on Medical Schools, the National Headache Foundation where he is a member of the Honorary Advisory Board, American Headache Society where he was a member of the Board of Directors and chaired its Annual Meetings, American Pain Society, American Society for Experimental NeuroTherapeutics, Illinois Medical Society, and the American Council for Headache Education where he served as the Chair of the Publications Committee and on the Board of Directors. Dr. Ramadan co-chairs with Professor Jes Olesen the International Headache Research Seminars.
Dr. Ramadan served as the Medical Editor for the ACHE Newsletter and he is Associate Editor for Cephalalgia and Headache. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several journals including Stroke, Neurology, Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism, Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Neurology Network Commentary, Annals of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Managed Care, Headache, and Annals of Pharmacotherapy.
Dr. Ramadan’s research interests include migraine, stroke, and chronic pain. Dr. Ramadan was awarded the Harold Wolff Award for best research on Headache in 1989, is an NIH Javit Stroke
Fellowship award recipient, and was honored twice as Faculty Teacher of the Year. Dr. Ramadan is on the Who’s Who in America 2000 list and Who’s Who in the World 2001 list. Dr. Ramadan was the recipient of the Waukegan Township Legislative Award in 2005. Dr Ramadan serves on the Academic Advisory Board of Lead America, the Advisory Council of the Staben Center, and the Regional Board of the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Ramadan has given over 150 lectures internationally and nationally on topics related to headache, pain, stroke, clinical research, clinical trials methods, and neuropharmacology. Dr. Ramadan has authored or co-authored over 190 manuscripts, abstracts, book chapters, and editorials and he co-edited the highly popular book The Headaches, 3rd Edition.
