Two Diamond Headache Clinic Physicians Receive New Certification
Doctors are among 8 in Chicagoland area with certification
Chicago, Ill. (Jan. 17, 2008) – Two Saint Joseph Hospital physicians affiliated with the Diamond Headache Clinic, Merle Diamond, M.D., of Glenview, and Fred Freitag, D.O., of River Forest, recently received certification in Headache Medicine from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS), a professional medical organization.
To receive this 10-year certification, Drs. Diamond and Freitag passed a headache medicine accrediting examination, which became available in 2006. Headache medicine is a neurologic subspecialty focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of head and face pain, according to the UCNS website. Only 165 physicians nationwide hold this certification, with 8 in the Chicagoland area, according to the UCNS.
Dr. Diamond is board-certified in internal medicine, and Dr. Freitag is board-certified in family medicine. Also UCNS accredited at the Diamond Headache Clinic is Nabih Ramadan, M.D., board-certified in neurology.
“This recent certification is another example of the commitment and dedication of our physicians in providing the highest level of care to patients with headaches and migraines,” said Seymour Diamond, M.D., director and founder of the Diamond Headache Clinic.
